India firmly rejects China’s objection to HM Shah’s Arunachal visit

India on Tuesday firmly rejected China’s objection to Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh and asserted that the state was, is and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said objecting to such visits does not stand to reason and will not change the reality. “We completely reject the comments made by the Chinese official spokesperson,” he added.

Earlier home minister Amit Shah on a visit to Arunachal had said, no one can take even an “inch” of India’s land. Visiting Arunachal Pradesh, Shah had launched the “Vibrant Village Programme” that will improve infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control in the region and said the move will help in strengthening India’s security. Shah’s visit drew a strong response from China which said it violates Chinese “sovereignty”.

The Chinese President Xi Jinping’s wolf warriors are now at work with military posturing in the Indo-Pacific and issuing statements claiming India territory. New Delhi has been rejecting outrightly it’s tirade against India and its illegitimate claims over Arunachal Pradesh. Chinese hegemonistic policies and its statements claiming Indian territory as well as aggressive posturing against Taiwan are all disrupting peace and stability in the region. China is threatening neighbours through its tactics to usurp areas belonging to other nations. Its imaginary claims aimed at fear mongering are a cause of concern for the entire Asia- pacific.

The rapidly escalating situation over Taiwan since former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taipei last August 2 is also a matter of concern for Japan as any PLA intervention in the Taiwan strait is likely to affect Tokyo too. The Hindustan Times reported, “The visit of Japan’s top admiral to west Australian port, possibly the central hub for the AUKUS submarines, and the launch of US-Philippines largest ever joint military drills today shows that the QUAD partners are ready for the Beijing challenge”.
