India to give a befitting response to any external provocations under PM Modi: US Report

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is more likely to give military response to Pakistan’s provocations, a US Intelligence report has said. India is more likely to respond with military force in the present times to perceived or real Pakistani provocations, than it was in the past.

Pakistan has a long history of supporting anti-India terrorist groups but, under PM Narendra Modi, India is more likely to respond in a befitting manner than it was in the previous years..

According to the Annual Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Community, the crises between India and Pakistan are more concerning because both are nuclear-armed states. Althought, the report added, “New Delhi and Islamabad probably are inclined to reinforce the current calm in their relationship following both sides’ renewal of a cease-fire along the Line of Control in early 2021.”

Earlier, the US State Department report on terrorism titled- “Country Reports on Terrorism”-  had emphasised how Islamabad has been using its soil to “harbour United Nations-designated terrorists. Pakistan “did not take sufficient action to dismantle” terror groups working against India, the US report has said recently.

This report was seen as a major blow to Pakistan by analysts that the United States had once again exposed Islamabad’s role in nurturing and harbouring terrorists in its country. These terrorists have been carrying out lethal operations against India and killing civilians here.

Further, the report had found that Islamabad did not take sufficient action to dismantle counter terrorism financing which was mainly concentrated on spreading terror in India and to restrain India-focused militant groups.

The US State Department report had recently emphasised how Islamabad has been using its soil to “harbour United Nations-designated terrorists”. “Several UN- and US-designated terrorist groups that focus on attacks outside the country continued to operate from Pakistani soil in 2021, including the Haqqani Network, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),” the report noted.
